Basil is the realization of the lifelong dream of Henry and Chai Eang, brothers who immigrated to the United States from turbulent 1970s Cambodia. From speaking not a word of English, to creating award-winning dining experiences throughout the Carolinas, the duo has married hard work with passion to bring authentic Thai cuisine to their new home. Since opening the first Basil in Charleston to rave reviews, several trendy locations have followed over the last dozen years. Basil’s infectious atmosphere centers around a dynamic kitchen as the sound of heat to metal, blade to board and liquid to flame resonate throughout the restaurant. Each space stylishly appointed to reflect the culture and energy of the noteworthy Southern cities they inhabit.

  • First course (choice of one)
    • Fresh Basil Rolls (GF upon request) - shrimp, rice noodles, lettuce, bean sprouts, and basil wrapped in rice paper
    • Egg Rolls - egg roll wrapper stuffed with carrots, cabbage, cellophane noodles, and celery, served with sweet & sour sauce
    • Larb - (GF) - minced chicken mixed with onions, mint, scallions, cilantro, chili powder, fish sauce, lemon juice, and cabbage
    • Nam Sod (Chicken or Pork) (GF) (contains peanuts) - minced meat mixed with ginger, scallions, cilantro, onions, peanuts, chili powder, fish sauce, and lemon juice, served with a wedge of Iceberg lettuce
    • Fried Wontons (7) (contains shrimp and dairy) - chicken, shrimp, and cream cheese in wonton wrappers, served with sweet and sour sauce
  • Second course (choice of one)
    • Pad Thai Chicken & Shrimp (GF) (contains peanuts and shellfish) - rice noodles stir-fried with chicken and shrimp, eggs, bean sprouts, scallions, peanuts & Pad Thai sauce
    • Basil (Chicken, Pork, or Tofu) - basil, bell peppers, onions, and garlic with Thai chili sauce
    • Sweet And Sour (Chicken, Pork, or Tofu) (GF) - onions, bell peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, pineapple, and scallions
    • Green Curry (Chicken, Pork, or Tofu) (GF) - bell peppers, bamboo shoots, eggplants, green peas, and basil
    • Red Curry (Chicken, Pork, or Tofu) (GF) - potatoes, onions, and cashew nuts
    • Fried Rice (GF) (contains egg) - fried rice with Chicken, Veggie, or Tofu, eggs, onions, scallions, carrots, and green peas
