Highland Avenue Restaurant changed the culinary landscape of Hickory in 2013 when the farm-to-table restaurant opened. Highland Avenue has garnered regional and national praise for locally sourced foods; farmers and purveyors walk through the back door daily, arms laden with produce, cheese, and meats from their North Carolina farms. Located on the second floor of the beautifully renovated Holler Mill, Highland Avenue pays homage to the city’s rich manufacturing history while focusing on Appalachian cuisine. The restaurant offers stunning, seasonal fare and provides guests with a taste of true Southern hospitality.

Butcher Block - local selection of cured meat and cheese, house-made accompaniments

Beef Tartare - egg yolk, crunchy bread

H.AVE Fries - sausage gravy, Ashe Co. Cheddar cheese, Lady Edison bacon

Highland Skink (Potato Soup) - smoked NC trout, cream, parsley oil

Farmer Greens Salad - dried cherry, Ashe Co. Bleu, smoked peanut, bacon, fruit vinaigrette

Caesar Salad - crouton, Parmigiana Reggiano, roasted olive, Caesar dressing

Second course (choice of one)

Sirloin, 7oz. - fingerling potato, sauteed greens, house-made steak sauce

NC Trout - sweet potato latke, sauteed greens, persimmon applesauce, herb creme fraiche

Shrimp & Grits - tasso ham, smoked green tomato, caramelized onion, Madeira jus

Joyce Farms Chicken Risotto - crispy prosciutto, house-made chutney, Parmesan butter

Pork Ragout - creamy polenta

Burger - pickled green tomato, Cheddar, fried potato skin, house-made steak sauce, hand-cut fries
