  • Located in the lobby of the 105-year-old, fully restored First National Bank of Gastonia, Barrister’s serves approachable, ingredient-driven Southern favorites. The menu is a mixture of traditions much like the restoration of the building. We blend familiar ingredients, Southern scratch-cooking technique, and a little adventure into each of our dishes. Whether you are looking for traditional hand-breaded, fried chicken breast or exotic spice blends, we have something you should try. Barrister’s at The Esquire Hotel is where the past meets the present in downtown Gastonia.

    • Crispy Brussels Sprouts - fried Brussels sprouts tossed in a peach and jalapeño glaze
    • Watermelon Panzanella Salad - fresh watermelon tossed with house-made cornbread, fresh herbs, and goat cheese
    • House Salad - arugula, Romaine, Cheddar, tomato, carrots, red onion, croutons, Barrister’s buttermilk herb dressing
    • Caesar Salad - Romaine, Parmesan, croutons, Barrister’s Caesar dressing
  • Second course (choice of one)
    • Bone-In Pork Chop - grilled pork chop served with peach gastrique, braised cabbage and Gorgonzola grits
    • Orecchiette with Broccoli Rabe (Vegetarian) - orecchiette pasta with sautéed broccoli rabe, local mushrooms, house-made pesto, and Parmesan cheese
    • Eggplant Coconut Curry (Vegan) - grilled eggplant in a house-made coconut curry, served with Carolina Gold rice, charred okra, and roasted radishes
  • Dessert (choice of one)
    • White Chocolate Cookie Sandwich - fresh cannoli filling sandwiched between two house-made white chocolate cookies and rolled in crushed pistachios
    • Chocolate Layer Cake - moist chocolate layer cake with mint buttercream frosting and chocolate chips
    • Coconut Creme Brûlée - creamy coconut custard with a crispy brûlée sugar top, served with toasted coconut and fresh berries (gluten-free and dairy-free)
