MAC Cosmetics is gearing up to release a Whitney Houston collection, set to launch in 2022.
The collaboration between the infamous cosmetics brand and the Houston estate has reportedly been in the works for over a year now, and will officially come to fruition starting next year. The makeup collaboration is reportedly slated to drop around the same time as Whitney's highly anticipated, official, biopic entitled I Wanna Dance With Somebody.
Lifetime's 2014 film about the late singer's late was not approved by the Houston Estate --- which means the upcoming film will be able to feature all of the Whitney's big hits. Pat Houston, Whitney's sister-in-law, will even serve as a producer on behalf of the Houston Estate alongside Clive Davis --- Whitney's longtime producer and mentor.
As for Whitney's collaboration with MAC, Pat Houston told People magazine:
"The idea that is coming to fruition now is something Whitney always wanted to do. ‘I’m pleased we can do something that I know she would have loved. Whitney was always a champion of women feeling beautiful whether it was a major event or just for everyday wear, our work with MAC is about creating a line that can meet all of those needs. The line will be true to her colors that she loved to work with. An iconic red was something [Whitney] enjoyed."
The legendary makeup brand has also signed on to help recreate some of Whitney's most infamous looks for the upcoming biopic. No word on when the collaboration will officially launch, however a Whitney Houston tour is currently in the works, featuring a hologram of the star. Starting on October 26th, An Evening With Whitney: The Whitney Houston Hologram Concert will be a Las Vegas residency held at Harrah's Las Vegas.
I Wanna Dance With Somebody, the official Whitney biopic is set for a Thanksgiving 2022 release.
