Influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate have officially been charged with rape and other crimes in Britain, prosecutors announced on Wednesday (May 28) via the Associated Press.

The charges were initially authorized last year and news outlets reported arrest warrants were issued against the Tate brothers, who have dual United States and British citizenship but moved to Romania in 2016, however, the Crown Prosecution Service confirmed that Wednesday was the first time the two had been criminally charged in Britain.

Andrew Tate, 38, was charged with rape, actual bodily harm, human trafficking and controlling prostitution for gain in relation to incidents allegedly involving three women. Tristan Tate, 36, was charged with rape, human trafficking and actual bodily harm in relation to an alleged incident involving one woman.

The Tate brothers were arrested in Romania and formally indicted on charges in relation to an alleged criminal ring that lured women from within the country who claimed they were sexually exploited in late 2022, while Andrew also received a rape charge. Both Andrew and Tristan Tate have publicly denied all allegations against them.

Romanian courts have issued an order for the Tates' extradition to the United Kingdom once their local court case has concluded, British prosecutors confirmed to the Associated Press on Wednesday. The warrant issued by Bedfordshire Police dates back to a timeframe between 2012 and 2015.

Andrew and Tristan Tate's whereabouts wasn't immediately made clear at the time of the initial report on Wednesday.
